Guest Speaker "The Importance of Communication in Managing a Global Project"
by

Mary M. Piecewicz

Topic

Are you aware of the communication barriers to a successful project implementation?  Do you know the optimal communication method for bridging cultural differences within a global project team?   As a project manager, should you adopt a single approach to overcome the communication challenges of time and geography?     Today’s virtual project teams   depend heavily on timely communication, employee empowerment and cultural awareness. Global project teams, consisting of individuals who are geographically dispersed, must effectively communicate and interact to achieve strategic organizational results.

This presentation will focus on the importance of communication in managing a global project.  Using a comparison of two global project implementations, identical in design and implementation – except for the communication plans employed, you will explore the various aspects of communicating in a virtual, global environment.   The speaker will also share practical advice gleaned from a survey of over 200 global project managers on the importance of face to face meetings, importance of communication, the role of project sponsor and the impact of multicultural teams.
