Topic Effective Issue Resolution

This will be an interactive presentation and discussion based on the Project Management Institute's newly revised Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. We will discuss why an ethics code is important, features of PMI's Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, application of the code, and how the code is being implemented, then move to interactive discussions of example scenarios. Finally, we will discuss 'what's in it for me?'.

 
About the Speaker Debra Miersma Debra Miersma is currently serving as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Project Management Institute Educational Foundation. In 2007 Debra served as Chair of the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct Implementation Advisory Committee and in 2005-2006 on the Ethics Standards Development Committee, which revised PMI's Code of Ethics. Debra also served on the PMI Board of Directors in several roles: as Secretary-Treasurer, as Chair of the Performance Oversight Committee, as Governance Committee member, and as Chair of the Board's External Relations and Volunteer Involvement Committee. Before this, Debra was President of PMI's Assembly of Chapter Presidents and the Southwest Ohio Chapter. Professionally, Debra works with companies, such as Procter and Gamble, International Paper Company, and MeadWestvaco, to develop innovative new products and new lines of business. In her spare time, she and her husband work with faith-based groups to provide pro bono construction project management. Debra is a paper engineer and resides in a small town just east of Pittsfield in Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
