Project Management: The Engine of the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Turnaround
Project management does not need to be complex or complicated to offer value to an organization’s success. In fact, keeping it simple allows companies to develop a project management competency that, over time, becomes part of the organizational culture. Lisa DiTullio of Harvard Pilgrim shares her organization’s story, through a case study of project management evolution, in its simplest form. The story itself is compelling and a true account of project management implementation in a real setting, with real results. Lisa shares simple solutions to how Harvard Pilgrim Health Care went from being placed in state-supervised receivership in 1999 to receiving Plan of Distinction status from JD Power and Associates and named the #1 Health Plan in America on the U.S. News & World Report/NCQA America’s Best Health Plans three years in a row.* One of the keys to the organization’s success stems from its enterprise project management office, which was created specifically to ensure corporate initiatives involving multiple departments are pursued in a timely and efficient manner.
